BISONS CHARGE THROUGH INTERNATIONAL FEST
QHoops.Net
The RCMP Bisons, Quebec's hot new summer program, stampeded through
the Festival International de Montreal last weekend, sweeping five categories
with an undefeated record.
The
17-Under Lady Bisons also won three out of their four games at the tournament,
even though they were playing in the 18-over category.
The Bisons teams, known as the Ballers, dominated the tournament with clean sweeps of the 14-Under, 16-Under and 17-Under boys' divisions.
The
13-Under Ballers team even went 4-0 in a division with 14 year olds that
included a squad from Rhode Island and three Espoirs teams!
The 13-Under Ballers team went 4-0 against 14-year-olds.
RCMP Corporal Alain Babineau, who started the Bisons program two years ago,
said the tournament gave Ballers players a chance to build their skills
and their confidence.
"The kids had fun and the games allowed those kids who don't get much playing time, an opportunity to play more than usual," he told QHoops.net.
The corporal also said the string of victories raised the profile of the Bisons program.
"A lot of people were asking where those Bisons were from? The States? No, they are from right here in Montreal and they can play ball!"
Make it two straight weeks of wall-to-wall winning for the Ballers.
They nearly swept their own DEAL tournament at College Edouard-Montpetit a week ago, winning the 13-Under, 15-Under and 17-Under Boys' Divisions.
